Eadweard Muybridge

Eadwaerd Muybridge was a british man famous for his photography who later on became famous and known for stop motion.

He discovered, and was the first to create stop motion, by getting cameras and lining them up so that he could capture the horse as it moved. By the end of this he was able to create movement with each frame shot the cameras took.

In class we attempted to re-create his experiment by using the computer cameras. We got the cameras ready and got a student to walk across the room to pass all the cameras. As the student passed by the cameras, each camera took a shot. Then we got all the pictures together and edited them together in iStopMotion and when we were finished we ended up with a moving person.

When Muybridge made his first moving picture, It probably would have looked jumpy and not as smooths as we see things on Tv and the internet today unless its stop motion.

Frames per second can be considered stop motion on a much faster scale. Frames per second or FPS simply means what it sounds like. It is the amount of frames that are taken for every second. So for example if I had a camera that does 720p resolution, It means it does a 720 horizontal progressive scan lines of image display resolution which can also be reffered to as pixels. It is usually broadcasted at 60 frames per second and is one of the highest picture qualities.
