The first multi camera shot show I am going to analyse will be Eastenders.
Plot and what happens in the show
Eastenders is really just an on going story about the people and their lives on the square in East london. They usually include seasonal events and make their shows apart of special occasions like Christmas and Halloween to make the show feel more realistic and also they usually use certain times of the year as a means to go all out with crazy drama ideas and situations to keep their audience hooked regardless of the time of the year.
Target audience and scheduling
The target audience for this show would be late teens and adults who may be able to relate to certian situations that the characters of eastenders go through.
Weekday schedule
Monday: 8:00-8.30 pm on
BBC One AND 9.00-9.30pm on
BBC One.
Tuesday: 7.30-8.00 pm on
BBC One.

Thursday: 7.30-8.00pm on

Friday: 8.00-8.30pm on
BBC One AND 9.00-9.30 on BBC One.
Characters and History
The show has been around since Febuary the 19 in 1985 which is when the first episode was shown and since then characters have come and gone. Some of them faked a death to the audience to leave the show and some of them just moved away in the story. Some of them come back into the story by moving back in to the square. The currant characters that consist of the show are Ian beale, Lucy beale, Dot Branning, Jack Branning, Cora Cross, Tanya Cross, Max Branning, Whitney Dean, Denise Fox, Masood Ahmed, Zainab Khan, Billy Mitchell, Phil Mitchell, Mo Harris, Christian Clarke, Alfie, Janine Butcher, Patrick Truman and Kat Moon. Most of these characters have experienced a certain problem and have had a significant role in the story.
Camera Techniques
Eastenders uses the Multi camera techique to record their shows and also when they do their live episodes too. This would make things easier for them to get things done and save time when recording episodes.
Eastenders use a variety of shots but I have recently realised that the most common shots that are used in this show are reaction shots, shot reverse shot, over shoulder shot, 2 shot, 3 shot and close ups to add emphasis on the characters expressions and to she the effect something has had on someone. Establishing this is an important part of the show because it has the potential to grab the attention of someone who isnt paying attention to the show.
The bad thing about using these camera shots and the same out tro to a show is the fact that after a certain amount of time it can be really pradictable and dull for some viewers.
Over all and my opinion
The show has done really well for the many years its been on Tv because its still has a really big audience as well as it still being a popular show which is actually amazing in my eyes.
However, I personally dont follow Eastenders because I find the situations to be common and sometimes silly and also I can usually pridict the way the show is going to end so there are not really anyhooking factors for me.
The second multi camera show I will be analysing will be The Weakest Link.
Plot and what happens in the show
The Weakest link is a british quiz/game show that comes on BBC 2 but is some times broadcasted on BBC 1 hosted by Anne Robinson. One of the interesting things about this game show is that it has a narrator. The person who does the narrating is Jon Briggs. Guest from the public come on and answer trivia questions to win money but only one can actually win an episode and take home the money they have earned.
Target audience and scheduling
Monday: 2:15 BBC One
Tuesday: 2:15 BBC One
Wednesday: 2:10 BBC One
Thursday: 2:15 BBC One
Friday: 2:15 BBC One
History
The first ever episode was shown on the 14th of August in 2000 and since then there have been many similar shows shown around the world.
Camera Techniques
This show uses Multi camera techniques to record this show which is probably the best way to go about recording a game show because its saves lots of time and also thinks look more smooth and effective.
Over all and my opinion
I think the Multi camera techneque helps the show do well with building suspence because the camera focus always changes to see every contestants expression when its voting time and eviction time. This is one of the things that the show hooks me with especially when the contestants are different. You sometimes get unexpectead reactions. One of the bad things about this show is that the camera shots are repetative and simple however the lights, suspense and the jib pan makes up for the other simple camera shots.
The last show I will be analysing will be The Paul paul O'grady Show.
Plot and what happens in the show
The paul O'grady show is a 60 minute british comedy talk show on channel 4 that comes on in the week hosted by Paul James Micheal O'grady where various artists and famous people have a chat with the host and often get interviewed by the presenter.
Target audience and scheduling
The Target audience for this show is probably the people who are already at home around 5 in the evening like people in their late teens and adults.
Weekday schedule
Monday: 5:00 PM - 6:00PM on the ITV Channel
Tuesday: 5:00 PM - 6:00PM on the ITV Channel
Wednesday:5:00 PM - 6:00PM on the ITV Channel
Thursday:5:00 PM - 6:00PM on the ITV Channel
Friday:5:00 PM - 6:00PM on the ITV Channel
Camera Techniques
The paul O'grady show is all shot in a studio so there are not many different shots. The only shots I noticed were long shots of the set and everyone on it, medium close ups, 2 shots and shot reverse shots.
Over all and my opinion
The Paul O'grady show is a really interesting show and would entertain me on a boring day but its not something that would have me running home from college to catch on tv.
